MY top 5 dog friendly beaches in North Cornwall

Our favourite four legged friends tend to love the beach more than we do half of the time, so why not treat them to a trip to one of Cornwall’s finest beaches!

With over 100 beaches across Cornwall allowing dogs all year round, you are spoilt for choice, but here are some of our personal favourites to get you started…..

1. Watergate Bay

A vast expanse of golden sand, Watergate Bay is a beautiful beach set down between the cliffs just a few miles distant of Newquay.

The beach offers a wide stretch of sand for dogs to explore, it’s a day which will tire them out for sure.

Don’t forget about your own enjoyment though, Watergate is home to The Extreme Academy, a fantastic extreme sports centre where you can take lessons in a range of activities. There is a beach café and other facilities and restaurants available.

2. Mawgan Porth

Perfect for families as well as dogs, Mawgan Porth is a gorgeous sheltered beach with plenty of caves, rockpools and a stream running down the beach.

Mawgan Porth is an ideal spot for a beach day, there is a pub, a handful of places to eat and a lovely shop with local produce.

3. Tregirls/Harbour Cove

Set at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, at low tide the sand stretches over a mile and a half, providing the perfect playground for dogs to run and splash in the calm water.

Ideally positioned next to Padstow, you can make a pit stop in town for something tasty to eat and drink after a beautiful scenic walk along the estuary.

4. Holywell Bay

A family friendly beach close to Newquay but far enough away to feel that little less busy, Holywell Bay is a great beach for families and dogs, with the most amazing sand dunes to explore.

5. Trebarwith Strand

A beautiful sandy beach backed by flat rocks, when the tide is in the sandy disappears leaving just the rocks at the cliff base. Trebarwith is such an interesting beach, ideal for exploring across the rocks, caves and rock pools.
