MY Greatest Family Days Out

Planning days out for the family can often lead to hours of scrolling through the internet, which isn’t something you want to be doing on your holiday. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of 7 activities the whole family can enjoy (one for each day of the week).

1. Blue Reef Aquarium

Blue Reef Aquarium, in Newquay, hosts a gigantic range of different ocean life, from Caiman to sharks. This is bound to be a success as it has something for everyone in the family and is informative and educational at the same time. Situated right on the beach at Towan, this gives you somewhere pleasant to sit relax after exploring the aquarium.

2. Camel Creek Adventure Park

Camel Creek Adventure Park is a family theme park with something for people of all ages. There are large rides for the slightly bigger children and adults to enjoy as well as having more relaxing rides, such as the spinning teacups. On top of having numerous rides there’s also a haunted house and large indoor and outdoor play areas.

3. Newquay Zoo

Newquay Zoo is one of Cornwall’s most exciting visitor attractions, from Lions to Penguins there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy. This zoo helps to conserve endangered species, ensuring they have a future, lots of educational information is available around the grounds on how we can all do our part as well.

4. The Camel Trail

The Camel Trail runs alongside the river Camel from source to estuary, passing through towns such as Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Hiring a bike at one of the many places that offer this service and taking a ride across the stretch that suits you best – the route from Wadebridge to Padstow provides amazing views out across the estuary. On top of this being alongside the river means that the whole route is virtually flat!

5. Sea Life Safari

Sea Safaris are a great way to encounter the wonderful sea life Cornwall has to offer. You may see dolphins, seals, sun fish, basking sharks, puffins, and even in some extremely rare cases that we’ve experienced over the last couple of years whales and walruses!

6. Macdonald’s Farm

Macdonald’s Farm offers day visits in which you can spend a few hours meeting all of their animals and enjoying their playground facilities. This is ideally suited towards a younger audience, however more recently they’ve added a pool table and table tennis facilities meaning adults can also enjoy the day.

7. Beach Day

Why not just throw your flip flops on and head down to the beach with picnic supplies. Many of our beaches offer sheltered spots to relax and enjoy the sun. Kids can be entertained for hours by the rock pools, and the wonders the await inside. If you’re feeling adventurous you could try a family surf lesson, something that many of the local surf schools offer.
